Reeded Edge. Given the very low mintage of the 1836, the first year of issue for the Reeded Edge Half Dollar design subtype, the 1837 is the default date nearly all Type collectors will acquire. It's also a date that, in general, just doesn't come all that nice either being dipped out white or unappealing grey. This specimen has outstanding mint bloom luster, is exceptionally clean and offers some really beautiful and wholly original toning both obverse and reverse. For what it's worth, we have not owned an 1837 Reeded Edge 50c in PCGS MS64 in the past 6 years, possibly longer. Granted, we've had opportunities, but have not seen a pleasing, original and true to grade example worth owning. CAC Verified.
