Probably the 3rd rarest date in the entire series and one of the stoppers for many collectors. Exceptionally well struck overall, and while exhibiting some of the typical weakness, this piece far exceeds what is typically seen for this date. Add to this the eye appeal and you indeed have a special piece. Both obverse and reverse exhibit a soft, peach-gold patina with a subtle pink undertone. Originally sold in November 1998.
