This was made by the new City Surveyor of Chicago, William Clogher. It shows block 30 in
Wolcott’s addition to Chicago, subdivided into twenty-seven lots, all of which have access to an
‘H’ designed alley system. The subdivision was bordered by the streets of Superior, Clark,
Huron, and LaSalle. As noted in the script, the lots belonged to Charles Butler and were signed
for by his new attorney Edwin H. Sheldon on May 29, 1854.
Condition:
Several chips and missing pieces due to brittle paper. Map is separated into two
pieces. A 4 inch tear extends into the manuscript at lower right.
