Subdivision of Block 52 in Kinzie’s Addition to Chicago

This map shows a land survey of Kinzie’s Addition to Chicago subdivided into 12 lots for

William B. Ogden. The subdivision was bordered by Chicago Avenue, Rush Street, Superior

Street, and Cass Street (now Wabash Avenue). Each lot had access to a ‘T’ designed alley

system that still exists today. According to the script, the subdivision was claimed by William

B. Ogden and signed for by his attorney just one day after the survey was made.

Condition:

Several large breaks and areas of loss. Paper is thick and brittle with a

contemporary green cloth edging. Manuscript on the verso notes the map’s recording.
